More and more research is telling us that the ability to rest and relax is no longer just for vacations and the 'idle rich'. We are living longer and more than ever we need to learn how to live better.

Alternative medicines and practices are becoming more publicized, accepted, and endorsed by conventional medicine.

Hospitals like Duke, Columbia, and Sick Kid's, now offer Reiki and other Alternative Medical practices in their support services, and children's hospitals and Palliative Care facilities all over the world are teaching meditation, Yoga, and Tai Chi for pain management and relaxation.

Studies on the damage stress does to your heart, circulation, and immune system are still pouring in and yet, too many of us still put off learning or practicing relaxation techniques as something we'll 'make time for later'.

The future is now. Schedule an hour once a month for a massage or a Reiki session. Take a moment to be good to yourself and try meditation.

Whether your "happy place" is a misty forest primaeval...

Or a glorious, sunny beach...
